-Current data tells us that kids today spend half the time their parents did playing outside.
The Center for Disease Control tells us that neurodevelopmental disorders are on the rise, and between 1997-2008 the prevalence of these disorders has increased 17.1% — that’s about 1.8 million more children. The prevalence of autism increased 289.5%, while the prevalence of ADHD increased 33.0%.
Learn how the latest scientific research is linking early motor development, including balance and coordination, with academic performance in reading and math.
Similarly, learn how poor motor skills can correlate to children with learning disabilities and what important milestones parents and educators should be looking for. Knowledge is power and armed with this information on environmental factors that we can control, parents and educators can develop a plan to give children the best chance possible at being physically and cognitively healthy.

Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking/jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using resistance bands, the stroller and the environment. Taught by certified and specially trained fitness instructors, it is a great workout for any level of exerciser. Stroller Strides instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to entertain and engage baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as mom.

This unique program also provides moms with the opportunity to meet other moms, engage in playgroups with their babies, and to form lasting friendships. Stroller Strides is designed to give mothers the "Strength for Motherhood!"

Stroller Strides® is a PRENATAL and POSTPARTUM fitness program that moms can do WITH their babies.

Stroller-aged children are any children that can remain in the stroller for the duration of the workout (required). Our kiddos range from 6 weeks to 4 years of age.

A jogging stroller is NOT required to participate in Stroller Strides®

Stroller Barre® is a unique blend of ballet, Pilates, barre, yoga and stroller-based exercises designed to help moms build strength and muscle tone and improve posture. Created by a mom who was formerly a professional ballerina, this class incorporates prenatal and postnatal training and yields amazing results in an exciting, fun format. Postpartum women tend to have tight and weak pectoral (chest), abdominal and quadriceps muscles. In addition, the back and hamstrings muscles become stretched and weak. This occurs due to hunched posture from breast or bottle feeding, excessive spinal curves while carrying baby in utero and after birth, and repeatedly picking their new (and rapidly growing) baby up. Stroller Barre® focuses on strengthening and creating an ideal length/tension relationship in all the postural muscles, creating a taller, leaner-looking mommy!

Stroller Barre is a PRENATAL and POSTPARTUM fitness program that moms can do WITH their babies.

Stroller-aged children are any children that can remain in the stroller for the duration of the workout (required). Our kiddos range from 6 weeks to 4 years of age.

A jogging stroller is NOT required to participate in Stroller Barre.

Starting April 1

We invite all of our Fit4Mom ladies to take part in our fitness challenge. Every other month we are checking in on our skills and smashing goals! Join us at 6:45pm at the Jaycee Park pavilion to warm-up and complete the 1 mile run (can jog or walk too), then we will do the additional skill challenges - 1 minute: squats, burpees, push-ups, bicep curls and For Time: Side Planks and Regular Planks. (during winter we'll swap out the 1 mile for 1 minute high knees)

Whether you are doing this for the first time or checking against a previous assessment, this is a great opportunity for you. Remember, these are challenging YOUR personal skills and gauge your fitness transformation. At the end of class we will evaluate our goal progress and set new goals for the Fall.

Following class, to celebrate our accomplishments, we will be heading over to Crispelli's. You can enjoy salad, soup, pizza and some kid free time out with your favorite (or new) Fit4Mom ladies. All are welcome to take part in the class and/or dinner.
  • Fitness Challenge (Check the Scheduled Event for this month's location; changes seasonally)
  • After Class - Dinner at Crispelli's in Berkley (Woodward Ave just south of 12 Mile)
What to Bring: hand towel (for sweat), beach towel or mat for core work, water and/or electrolyte drink.

If you are unable to attend the skill challenge, you are still invited to join us for Body Back Workouts at all three East Oakland County locations. Body Back is a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) program that incorporates cardio, strength training, core and restorative exercises. This class is open to all women.
